ABOUT ME WITHOUT YOU
Carved from reclaimed oak and walnut, ME WITHOUT YOU is a meditation on the resiliency of the heart. Leaning into the natural tight graining of the material, the artist creates delicate (and sometimes chaotic) curvature that leads into and away from blind spots, scratch marks, and scars, in a delicate dance of classic hand carving and rustic whittling. The piece is left unstained and has been finished in natural beeswax and orange oil.

Honoring their Iñupiaq heritage means finding ways to incorporate and share the values of their people in everything they do. With AVU AGAIN SEES THE SUN, the artist depicts a rising form with face turned happily upward, seeking the warmth of the sun. Created with more than 80% reclaimed materials in honor of the artist's vision-impaired mother, known as Avu, AVU AGAIN SEES THE SUN, is a freestanding sculpture featuring hand carving, leatherworking, clay, and responsibly gathered wild feathers.
